The Fox Tucson Theatre was built in 1929 and opened its doors in 1930 providing the small community with vaudeville and theatrical shows. The theatre fell into disarray during the 70s and closed its doors indefinitely in 1974. For the next 25 years, the theatre became home to over 40 homeless people and suffered from vandalism, water damage, and a quarter century of negligence. In 1999, the building was purchased by the newly fondued non-profit Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation which slowly began the process of restoration.

During the restorative process, the Fox Tucson Theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a "Nationality Significant Structure". $13 million dollars and six years later, the Fox Tucson Theatre was reopened in 2005. It was widely heralded by the local community who welcomed the addition of a central cultural venue. Today, The Fox Tucson Theatre hosts over 100 events annually to over 100,000 visitors.
